Arthur J. "Art" Botz, age 89 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment following in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. followed by the Veterans prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Art Botz was born in Getty Township, Stearns County to Fred and Rose (Bromenshenkel) Botz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was captured and held in a German prisoner of war camp for many months. Art worked as a bulldozer operator for Barton Construction of Osseo for 17 years, Ashworth Construction of St. Louis Park for six years, and for various other companies. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. Art was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, American Legion Post 67 and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 3853.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Clarence Botz and his wife, Leona of Sauk Centre, Dave Botz and his wife, Louise of West Palm Beach, Fla., Alma Saunders of St. Paul, Sr. Lucille Botz of St. Paul, Dorothy Ahrens of Sauk Centre, Evelyn Hitt of Fridley, Robert Botz, and his wife, Elaine of Sauk Centre, and Muriel Vonada of St. Louis Park; and many nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Botz, Jr., Paul Botz and Edwin Botz.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jim Hitt, Pat Botz, Dave Vonada, Mark Ahrens, Arnold Thull and Don Botz. Honorary bearers will be Joyce Hens and Jack Anderson. Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
