Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Jerry M. Atkinson of Freeport who died Saturday at Pine Villa Care Center. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday after 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Golden Years Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society, St. Joseph's Society, Catholic Order of Foresters at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. at the church in Freeport.
Jerry Atkinson was born in Krain Township, Stearns County, to Edward and Magdalene (Finken) Atkinson. After graduating from Melrose High School, Jerry served in the U. S. Army for 2 years. He was united in marriage to Kathy Klemmer on August 3, 1963, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. They resided and worked in Freeport and later farmed North of Freeport for over 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society, St. Joseph's Society and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Atkinson of Freeport; children, Steven Atkinson (Tracie) of Bowlus, Brian Atkinson (Carolyn) of Annandale, Mary Lieser (Steven) of Freeport, Keith Atkinson (Chas) of Melrose, and Russel Atkinson of Sauk Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Kaufman (Gerald) of Spencer, SD.
Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Arnold, Archie, Art, Edward H. and Virgil Atkinson. Arrangements are with Patton Schad Funeral Service of Freeport.
