Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Victor N. Schreifels, 77, who died Tuesday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Parish prayers will be 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Victor Schreifels was born in Richmond to John and Frances (Kron) Schreifels. He married Lorraine Barthel on Nov. 23, 1948, at the Church of Seven Dolors, Albany. The couple lived in Melrose and he was employed as a maintenance engineer for Kraft Foods, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose.
Survivors include his wife; son James of Melrose; and brothers and sisters, Celesta "Les" Denne of Bismarck, N.D., Alice Moening, Iris Hiltner and Cyril of Melrose, Ellen Primus of Hawley, Esther Steinemann of Freeport, Delphine "Del" Gieske of Paynesville, and Howie of Coon Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Marcellus and Julia.
