Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Cloud, for Mary C. Schlagheck, who died on Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate.
Mary was born to the late Norbert and Evelyn (Buttweiler) Welle in Melrose, Minnesota. She married Ward F. Schlagheck on September 16, 1950 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon. Mary was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Christian Women and St. Joseph and St. Margaret Society.
She is survived by her children, Gail Atkinson of Rochester, Karen (Vern) Hayenga of Montrose, MN, Gary (Lori) Schlagheck of St. Cloud, Kay (Ben) Hanson of Ankeny, IA, and Trina (Carl) Vettel of Hampton, IA; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Dolores Zimmerman and Glenn Laack.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ward on May 17, 1988; great-granddaughter, Gretta Braegelmann; sister, Rose Schreiner; and brothers, Richard and Norbert Welle.
