Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at St. Mary's Cathedral Upper Church in St. Cloud, MN for Stella C. Gruenke age 96 of St. Cloud, MN who died on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud, MN. The Reverend Steve Binsfeld will be the celebrant. Entombment will be at the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. also at the funeral home. St. Mary's Cathedral Parish and St. Anne's Christain Women Prayers will be at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
Stella was born on November 28, 1910 on farm near New Munich, MN, the daughter of Herman and Molly (Ross) Roering. She attended country school through the 8th Grade. She married Ed Gruenke on April 24, 1933 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, MN. After living in various places, the Gruenke family made their home in St. Cloud in 1956. Stella then worked for Fandel's Department Store for 18 years where she was the manager of the gift-wrapping department. In addition to her kids, Stella's greatest passion was her weekends at their cabin on Big Birch Lake, where she enjoyed fishing, and cooking with everyone.
She is survived by: her son Bernard (Mary) Gruenke Burnsville, MN, her daughter, Jean (Jack) Bauerly of Maple Grove, MN, one son-in-law Robert Reinhardt of Gunnison, CO, nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband Ed on March 18, 2005, one daughter Phyllis Reinhardt, her brothers and sisters: Dan, Arthur, Arnold, and Othmar Roering, Esther Frampton, Loretta Thielen, Olivia Thielen, Genevieve Thompson, and an infant sister Bernadette Roering.
