Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN for Alvina Marie Spoden age 92 of Cold Spring, formerly of St. Joseph, MN who died on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. The Reverend Joseph Feders, OSB will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, St. Joseph, MN. Visitation will be on Monday, May 7, 2007 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph, and on Tuesday, from 12 Noon to 1:30 P.M. also at the funeral home. St. Joseph Senior Citizens will pray the Rosary on Monday at 4:30 P.M. and St. Joseph Parish Prayers will be on Monday at 6:30 P.M. all at Daniel Funeral Home.
Alvina was born on August 31, 1914 on a farm in St. Joseph Township, Stearns County, MN the daughter of Edmund and Josephine (Kohorst) Hagemeier. She married Frank Spoden on October 28, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. She lived and farmed in St. Joseph Township all her married life. She also worked in Food Service for 25 years at the College of St. Benedict. Alvina moved to Cold Spring, MN in 1993 and resided at the John Paul Apartments, until 2003 when she became a resident of the Assumption Nursing Home also in Cold Spring. This has been her home since that time.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN.
Mrs. Spoden is survived by one daughter, Lillian (Delroy) Schreifels, and one son, Virgil (Carol) Spoden, both of Richmond, MN; five grandchildren, Rodney (Jennifer) Schreifels, Greg (DeeAnn) Spoden, Mark Schreifels, Chuck (Kim) Spoden and Jill Spoden, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Alvina was preceded in death by, her husband Frank in 1992 and one sister Monica Hagemeier this past December.
