Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for Irene Marthaler who died peacefully Friday at St. Michaels Hospital in Sauk Centre. Rev. Andrew Marthaler and Rev. James Statz will concelebrate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m.
Survivors include nine children, Mary (Don) Beckering of Minnetonka, Michael (Patty) Marthaler of Effie, Mark (Dorothy) Marthaler of Sauk Centre, Rose (Harvey) Schlichting of Little Falls, Peter (Laurie) Marthaler and Lorenz "Dusty" Marthaler, all of Sauk Centre, Therese (Steven) Roberts of Bloomington, Bill (Mona) Marthaler of New Munich, Dan (RaeAnn) Marthaler of St. James; daughter-in-law, Sondra Marthaler of St. Cloud; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Schmeising of Sauk Centre; brothers, Bernie Kinsella of Cheyenne, Wyoming, John Berscheit of Sauk Centre, and Paul (Verda) Berscheit of Prior Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on April 1, 2003; parents; son, Patrick; infant son, Joseph; grandson, Jason Schlichting; sister, Gertrude Wielenberg; brothers, Robert and Lloyd Kinsella. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
