Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Gilbert M. Roelike, 88, who died Sunday at Belgrade Nursing Home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 4 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Sauk Centre. Christian Mothers will pray at 5:30 p.m. followed by Catholic Order of Foresters at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 Tuesday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.
Gilbert Roelike was born in Roscoe to Anton and Mary (Jaeger) Roelike. He married Evelyn Bauer on Nov. 21, 1944, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Elrosa. He lived in Elrosa and for 37 years was part-owner and manager of the Elrosa Service Station. He was also part-owner of Elrosa Lumber Co.. He retired in 1977 and then became the caretaker for Elrosa Softball Association and Elrosa Baseball Club. He moved to the Belgrade Nursing Home in August. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Elrosa, Catholic Order of Foresters and a retired member of the Elrosa Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Paulette Bachman of Alexandria; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Alvina Johnson of Belle Plaine, and Innocent (Bud) of Elrosa.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Hildegard and Olivia Winter, Clementine Nickols, Benno and Werner; and two infant sisters.
