Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Celestine M. "Cel" Thielen, age 80 of St. Cloud who passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Matthew Kuhn will officiate. Burial with military honors will take place at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Cel was born on May 4, 1930 in Richmond, Minnesota to Edward and Theresa (Kraemer) Thielen. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Cel married Marcella M. "Marcy" Marx on September 1, 1955 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. He was employed as a Field Service Representative for 36 years by Gold'n Plump retiring in 1995. Cel was a member of the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622 and St. Michael's Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Marcy; children, Ken (Chris) of St. Cloud, Ron of Sauk Rapids, Laurie (Larry) Sieben of Bloomington, Illinois, Dan of Big Lake, Shari (Don) Trebtoske of St. Cloud and Doug (Jen) of Maple Grove; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Lorraine Handrahan of Minnetonka, Sally Olson of Minneapolis, Marie Gruenes of Eden Valley, Isadore of Watkins, Rita Arnold of Cambridge and Larry of Zimmerman.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tom; parents; sister and brother, Aurelia and Sylvester.
