Casimir W. Otte, age 93 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. followed by St. Paul's Catholic Aid at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Casimir Otte was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Melrose, to Bernard and Catherine (Hemmesch) Otte. On Aug. 30, 1939, he married Irma Hinnenkamp at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple farmed near Sauk Centre until retiring in 1974. He began working at Steiner Lumber Company in 1975 and was the yard manager for ten years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and St. Paul's Catholic Aid. Casimir enjoyed music, mowing lawn with his John Deere tractor, decorating their home for Christmas, socializing with family and friends and watching Twins baseball. If you needed a gentle hand, Dad was always available.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Otte of Sauk Centre; three children, Arlene (Ray) Freecheck of East Bethel, Joyce (Jerry) Schlangen of Cold Spring and Gary (Peg) Otte of Sauk Centre; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Irene Tiemann, Joe Otte, Anna Mae Denne, all of Melrose, Bonnie Mickels of Moorhead and Betty (Vernon) Dickhaus of Melrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Katherine Otte, Marie Rademacher and Sister Edna Otte, OSB. Serving as casket bearers will be grandchildren, Brian Freecheck, Karla Keys, Brad and Corey Schlangen, Melissa Guggenberger, Joleen Schutz, Bryce Otte and Troy Klein. Cross bearer will be Jill Otte and scripture bearer will be Michelle Sandager. Honorary bearers will be Bernard Meyer, Richard Schmitz, Cliff Jennissen, Jerry Christen, Arnie Meyer, Roman Petermeier, Ray Karasch, Richard Eltgroth, John Eagan, Kent Buchanan, Bob Polipnick, John Metcalf and Mike Kane. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services.
