Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church for Leander 'Andy' Burggraff, 83, who died Monday at Hilltop Good Samaritan Center. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, St. Nicholas. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins. Senior citizens will pray the rosary at 5:30 tonight at the funeral home in Watkins followed by parish prayers at 7.
Andy Burggraff was born in Watkins to Martin and Anna (Johannes) Burggraff. He married Gertrude Lucian in June of 1963. He farmed in Watkins and also worked at Busch Salvage in Minneapolis. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, St. Nicholas. He was also a member of Watkins Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Mabel Linn of Kimball, and William Lucian of Minneapolis; and brother and sisters, Aubrey 'Bud'of Omaha, Neb., Hilda Ralph of Osakis, and Eleanor Standish of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife on July 27, 1993; and brothers and sisters, William, Roman, Angeline, Katherine, Alice Dahlgren, Olive Filipeke, Ermalinda Chapman, Josephine Berger and Gertrude Arnold.
