Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church for Olivia E. Schmidt, 92, who died Thursday at Paynesville Area Hospital.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home and one hour before services Monday at the church in Paynesville. Parish prayers will be 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Olivia Schmidt was born in Foxhome, N.D., to Gerhard and Appolonia (Schoenborn) Dingman. She married Earl Schmidt on March 4, 1928, in St. Cloud. Since her marriage, she lived in Paynesville, where she was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and Paynesville Pacesetters. She took care of her dependent daughter Dianne for 51 years.
Survivors include her daughters and sons, Jeanette Noyes of Redfield, S.D., Joyce Drange of Grove City, Dianne, Donald, Lawrence and Eugene of Paynesville and Thomas of Forest Lake and James of Eden Valley; sisters and brother, Loretta Flynn of St Cloud, Catherine Nierenhausen of Hugo, Dorothy Bailen of Falcon Heights and Clarence of Morris; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, 1991; daughter, Delores, 1933, sister and brothers, Eleanor Maanum, Carl, Leander and Joseph; and one grandchild.
