Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Assumption Catholic Church for Clarence J. Dingman, 79, who died Tuesday at Stevens Community Medical Center. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight at Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris, and one hour before services Friday at the church. Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 7 tonight at the funeral home followed by a prayer service at 7:30.
Clarence Dingman was born in St. Martin to Gerhard and Appolonia (Schoenborn) Dingman. He moved to San Diego when he was 18, where he helped manufacture airplanes during World War II. He later returned to Minnesota, and married Mildred Budde on Aug. 27, 1946, in Melrose. In 1948, he began working for the Chandler-Wilbert Vault Co. in St. Paul. In 1951, he transferred to Morris, where he continued working with Chandler-Wilbert. He managed the Morris plant from 1964 until his retirement in 1984. The couple also owned and operated Dingman Floral in Morris from 1978 to 1986. He became the caretaker for Calvary Cemetery, Morris, in 1983. He was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus, served as an usher for many years and served on the Calvary Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Morris.
Survivors include his wife; children, Diane Moses of Fergus Falls, Lori Munsterman, Jason, Chuck and Bob of Morris, Mark of Park Rapids, and Judy Folkens and Mike of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sisters, Kathryn Nierenhausen of Scandia, Loretta Flynn of St. Cloud, and Dorothy Bailen of Falcon Heights.
He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Olivia Schmidt, Eleanor Maanum, Joe, Carl, Leander and Edmund.
