Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Maryºs Catholic Church for Luella Rieland, 64, who died Tuesday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by parish prayers at 8.
Luella Rieland was born in Melrose to Norbert and Agnes (Herzog) Hiltner. She married Marvin Rieland on July 21, 1956, in St. Maryºs Catholic Church, Melrose. She worked at Melrose Area Hospital and at Fingerhut in Sauk Centre for several years, and at a grocery store in Melrose for more than 20 years. She retired in 1997. She was a member of St. Maryºs Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her mother; children, Dan, Randy, Rick and Paul of Melrose, and Tom of St. Cloud; sisters and brothers, Jen Toenies, Mary Decker and Tom of Melrose, Ruben of Alexandria, Gene and Jim of Limon, Colo., Chuck of Baxter, Ann Thielen of New Munich, Mike of Cold Spring, and Bridget Westbrock of Rochester; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 12, 1996; and one infant sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
