A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Beata Buttweiler-Jacobs, age 102, of St. Cloud who died on Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at Alterra Sterling House of Sauk Rapids. The Rev. Tim Baltes will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 am on Friday at St. Paul's Church. Arrangements are being made with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Beata was born on Nov. 7, 1903 in Albany, MN to Mary (Auer) and Julius Hofmann. She married Paul Buttweiler on May 9, 1923 in Albany and they made their home in Melrose until 1944 when they moved to St. Cloud. Paul died in 1963. She married Louis Jacobs Dec. 3, 1966 in St. Cloud. Louis died in 1986. Bea loved homemaking, singing, cross word puzzles, crocheting, card playing and gardening. She was an active volunteer for years at the children's home, St. Benedict's Center and the various parishes she belonged to. She was a member of Holy Angels Altar Society, St. John Cantius Rosary Sodality, St. Paul's Christian Women, and the Great Northern Railroad Auxiliary. She was an election judge in her precinct for many years.
Beata is survived by her children: Lois Schanhaar of Melrose, Eugene (Delores) Buttweiler of St. Paul, Aurea Goerger of St. Cloud, Paul (Joan) Buttweiler of St. Cloud, and Shirley (Jim) Albers of St. Cloud; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 4 great great grand children and one on the way; 3 step children Vic Jacobs of Eden Prairie, Elmer Jacobs and Betty Drake both of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, 3 grandchildren; sons in law Leo "Bart" Schanhaar and Phil Goerger; brothers Norbert, Otto and Oscar; sisters Claudia Gerlach, Adella Schneider, Helen Schlicht and Hedy Schlicht; step children Michael and Louis Jacobs and Mildred Meyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
