Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Hedwig S. 'Hattie' Schlicht, 91, who died Thursday at Pine Villa Care Center.Interment be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at Pine Villa Care Center Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church in Melrose. Melrose Christian Mothers will pray at 7 tonight at the care center chapel in Melrose followed by parish prayers at 8.Arrangements were made by Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose.
Hedwig Schlicht was born in Albany to Julius and Mary (Auer) Hofmann. She married Norbert Schlicht on Aug. 5, 1929, in Albany. The couple lived and farmed in Morris for a year and then moved to Melrose. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose. She also was a member of Melrose VFW and American Legion auxiliaries and Melrose Hospital Auxiliary; was a gold star mother with the Melrose Christian Mothers; and was a former member of Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her daughters and son, LaVonne Ludwig of Melrose, Doris Ferm and Diane Schlicht Harstead of Plymouth, and Thomas of Woodbury;sister, Betha Jacobs of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, on Nov. 3, 1987; son, Jerome; sisters and brothers, Claudia Gerlach, Adela Schneider, Helen Schlicht, Norbert, Otto and Oscar; and a grandson.
