Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rosa, for Edward E. Toenyan, 82, who died Thursday at St. Cloud Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Catholic Aid Society will pray at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Melrose, followed by parish prayers at 8 and the Holy Name Society at 8:30.
Edward Toenyan was born in Millwood Township to George and Bernadine (Albers) Toenyan. He married Marie Schmidt on Nov. 4, 1941, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. The couple farmed in Millwood Township until retiring in 1984 and moving to Big Birch Lake. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons, Phyllis Messer of Sauk Centre, Jane Wielenberg of Long Prairie, Claude, Carl and Harold of Melrose, and Tom of Freeport; brother and sister, Norbert of Long Prairie, and Loretta Gieske of Melrose; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Frank; and sisters and brothers, Mary Bruggenthies, Amanda Boeckermann, Veronica Middendorf, Wallburga Wiechmann, Lawrence, Robert and George.
