Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rosa, for Marie M. Toenyan, 82, who died Saturday at her home near Big Birch Lake.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. St. Rosa Christian Mothers will pray at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home in Melrose followed by parish prayers at 8.
Marie Toenyan was born in Millwood Township, Stearns County, to Clemence and Anna (Rueter) Schmidt. She married Edward Toenyan Nov. 4, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. The couple farmed in Millwood Township before retiring in 1984 and moving near Big Birch Lake. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and St. Rosa Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Phyllis Messer of Sauk Centre, Claude, Carl and Harold of Melrose, Jane Wielenberg of Long Prairie, and Tom of Freeport; brothers and sisters, August and Herman of Freeport, Regina Steil of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Anna Spieker of Long Prairie, Cecilia Perish of Clarissa and Rose Betow of Sauk Centre; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband July 15, 1999; infant son Frank; and brothers, Joseph, Anton, John, Hubert and infant Alphonse.
