Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Alphonse Timp who died peacefully on Monday, June 8 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Freeport. Goldenaires Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5 p.m. Friday evening.
Al was born December 25, 1914 in Ossian, Iowa to Fred and Catherine (Bushman) Timp. On May 27, 1941 he married Martha Beuning at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Al farmed all his life. He enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport.
Survivors include his children, Art (Jean) Timp of Grey Eagle, Don (Betty) Timp of Freeport, Jerry (Judy) Timp of Freeport, Joan (Peter) Lupachini of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Jim (Mary) Timp of Melrose, Mary (Dan) Flan of Paynesville, Janice (Mark) Zierden of Melrose, and Cheryl (Kim) Jacobson of Cannon Falls; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha Timp on April 22, 2003; infant twin sons, James and John Timp; grandson, Aric Zierden; sisters, Corrinne, Irma, and Ernestine; brothers, Herbert and Arthur.
