Roman Waldorf

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Roman Waldorf, age 78, was held on Monday, April 12, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Melrose Veteran Honor Guard. Roman passed away Wednesday morning at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home.

Roman was born in Belgrade to John & Emma (Wuertz) Waldorf. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He married Dolores Job on June 23, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. Together they farmed 220 acres until his retirement. Roman, with his family, raised registered Holsteins for 40 years near Albany, MN. He was very proud of his herd and was actively involved with his children's 4-H dairy projects. He loved his family and will be deeply missed. Roman will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his devotion to his family and his faith, his love of farming, and his love of playing cards.

Roman is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dolores, Albany; children, Stephen (Nancy), Olivia; Carol (Rich) Primus, Freeport; Gregory, St. Cloud; Mary (Denny) Popp, Rice; Sharon (Larry) Jacobson, LeRoy; Lucy (Keith) Overman, Freeport; Ronald (Laura) Waldorf, Albany; Beverly Waldorf (Fiance, Frank Tokarz), Minneapolis; Edith Gerads, St. Stephen; Bonnie Waldorf, Fargo, ND; Roxanne (Mark) Newton, Lino Lakes; Chris, St. Cloud; Robert (Amy), Kasson; Noami (Ron) Ohmann, Albany, 29 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and brothers and sister, Ray (Lucille), Eugene (Alvina), Bert (Lucille), Donald (Kay), and Dorothy (Philip) Orth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mathilda Beuning. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
