Alice E. Metzger, 84, a resident of Park Villa Apartments in Waite Park and formerly of St. Cloud and New Munich, died Sept 8, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Luthearn Home in Sauk Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Rev. Greg Lieser officiated. Entombment was in Assumption Mausoleum.
Alice was born May 31, 1920 in New Munich to Sebastian and Mary (Roos) Janson. She married Arthur F. Metzger on Sept. 3, 1941 in New Munich. She was employed for 16 years at the St. Cloud Veteran's Administration Medical Center, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Christian Women, and VFW Post 428 Auxiliary. She was a caregiver all of her life, from her mother on down. Alice enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bingo, the casino, family get togethers, cooking and baking. Alice cherished all the time spent with her family and friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a strong wonderful woman who will be missed by all. May God bless her. She had a positive effect on people's lives and did something good for someone every day of her life.
Survivors include her children; Diane (Gary) Barber , St. Cloud, Gloria (Larry) Blaske, Sauk Rapids, Mary (Roger) Adelmeyer, St. Cloud, Kay (Daniel) Robbins, Zimmerman, Lea (Syl) Nistler, Auburn, Calif., Jean (Jeff) Freeberg, Hudson, Wisc., grandchildren; Kathy Rantz, Lisa Sughayor, Jennifer Nemeth, Sarah Blaske, Brandon and Brice Adelmeyer, Jason and Courtney Robbins, Syleana, Noah, and Colton Nistler, Melissa and Dean Freeberg, great-grandchildren; Bradley Hatch, Lydia and Alayna Nemeth, and sister; Dorothy Welle, Melrose
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, Dec. 9, 1999, and brothers and sister, Dick, John, Joseph, Henry, Fred and Raymond Janson, and Rose Cree
