Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Vernon F. Stroeing, age 75, of St. Cloud who died on Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Entombment will be in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call between 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. National Association of Retired Federal Employees will pray at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud followed by Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 at 6 p.m., VFW Post 428 at 6:30 p.m., Waite Park American Legion Post 428 at 7 p.m. and St. Peter's parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Vern was born on Sept. 18, 1926 in Lastrup, MN to Henry and Anna (Nathe) Stroeing. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He married Donna Mae Ebnet on June 10, 1954 in St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He lived in St. Cloud all of his married life where he was employed as a meat cutter at the Veterans Administ-ration Medical Center in St. Cloud for 37 years. He retired in August of 1980. He was a member of St. Peter's parish where he was a member of the Ushers Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622, Waite Park American Legion Post 428 and a life member of VFW Post 428. He was a longtime patron of O'Hara Bros Pub where he was considered "Chairman of the Board".
Survivors include his wife Donna Mae, daughter Linda of St. Paul, brother Alcuin of Melrose, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Del, Lambert and Lee. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Gary, Gregg, Quincy and Lyle Stroeing, John O., David, and Michael Ebnet.
