Melrose--Funeral services will be 11am Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Munich, for Casper J Nathe, 85, formerly of New Munich, who died Sunday at Pine Villa Nursing Home. The Rev Jim Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30pm Thursday at Schad Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be 8pm Thursday at the funeral home in Melrose followed by New Munich Catholic Order of Foresters at 8:30.
Casper Nathe was born Dec 6 1906, in New Munich to Anton and Margaret (Klein)Nathe. He began work at New Munich Co-op Creamery at age 18, then managed Padua Co-op Creamery from 1935 to 1941, and managed New Munich Co-op Creamery from 1941 until retiring in 1968. He was a member of New Munich Catholic Order of Foresters and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of New Munich. He became a resident of Parkview Manor in 1989 and for the past five months had been a resident of Pine Villa Nursing Home.
Survivors include sons, Howard, Melrose; Rueben, Litchfield; brothers and sisters, James, Minneapolis; John, St Cloud; Mrs Katherine Hoppe, New Munich; Mrs Ves (Margery)Roering, Melrose; Mrs Ray (Loretta)Linn, Freeport; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George, Tony and the Rev Gerard. Pallbearers will be Mike, Mark, Patrick, Gregory, Lana and Julie Nathe.
