The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Tony Janke, age 37 of Freeport, will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 18 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Fr. Jonathon Licari, OSB will officiate, burial will be in the parish cemetery. Tony died from injuries he received in an accident on Sunday. There will be a time to gather from 4-9:00 PM Wednesday and again after 9:30 AM Thursday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany. St. Anthony parish prayers will be at 5:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Tony was born in Melrose to Tony and Rosemary (Zierden) Janke. He grew up in Melrose, spending his summers on Big Birch Lake. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1990. He moved to the Twin Cities area where he attended Dunwoody Institute. He received an Associates Degree in Plumbing. Tony married Sandy Ostendorf on May 20, 2000 in St. Anthonys Catholic Church. He worked for Valley Plumbing for several years and he worked for Weidner Plumbing and Heating for the past year. Tony was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Twin City Pipe Trades Union, Local #15. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed helping others. More than anything, he loved being a dad.
Tony is survived by his wife, Sandy and their daughter, Emily both of Freeport. He is also survived by his father, Anthony Janke, Melrose and his brothers and sisters; Brenda (Chad) Van Beck, Melrose; Steven (Wendy) Janke, Oak Grove; Ron (Diana) Janke, Lakeville; and Mary Lou (Dale) Gerads, Grey Eagle.
Tony is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Janke in 2000.
