Elizabeth Schlangen, 82, of Roscoe, died Feb. 14, 2003, at St. Benedict's Center in St. Cloud. Services were held Monday, Feb. 17, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Elizabeth was born in St. Martin to John and Frances (Hemmesch) Olmscheid. She married Alfred Schlangen on May 6, 1941, in St. Martin. They farmed one and a half miles southeast of Roscoe prior to their retirement in 1991. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, Catholic Aid Association and Christian Women.
Survivors include her children, LeRoy, Ronald, Denis and Alver of Roscoe, Arthur of Richmond, Bernice Ellis of Glencoe, Doris Peters of Watkins, Mary Jane Ethen of Paynesville, Karen Meyer of Cold Spring, Janice Welle of Silver Lake, Ruth of Avon, Sandy of St. Cloud, and Susan of Minneapolis; brothers and sisters, Theresa Schaefer of St. Cloud, Marie Schoenberg of Meire Grove, Catherine Primus of Melrose and Anna Backes of Farming; 34 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred (March 12, 1998); infant sons Richard and James; parents; brothers and sisters, Nick, Gilbert and Alverna Enneking, and 2 grandchildren.
