Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2005 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Richard A. "Rich" Wiechmann, age 59 of St. Cloud, who died Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at his home. Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate. Military honors provided by the St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428 will be at the church. Burial will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. (TODAY) Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The VFW Granite Post #428 will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Rich was born on December 23, 1945 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Frank and Eleanor (Boeckerman) Wiechmann. He served in the U. S. Army from 1965 to 1967, and in the Army Reserve until 1971. Rich served in Vietnam for one year. He married Alice Thell on November 23, 1968 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, Minnesota. Rich was employed at DeZurik Foundry for 30 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Parish, St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428, the Eagle's Aerie 622, and GMP Local 63B. Rich enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, cooking, spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and discussing politics.
Rich is survived by his wife, Alice of St. Cloud; children, Chris of St. Cloud, Tom of St. Cloud, Gail (Aaron) Davis of Golden Valley, Beth (Scott) Terning of Bismarck, ND, and Greg (special friend Carrie) of St. Cloud; brothers and sisters, Pat (Millie) of Pennington, Cecilia (Ervin) Bauer of Melrose, Rosie (Bernie) Springer of Sleepy Eye, Daniel (Sue) of Baxter, Mike (Brenda) of Freeport, Sue (Roger) Stoermann of Melrose, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
