Richard J. Lindmeier, Sr., 80, died at his home in St. Cloud on December 21. His loving wife, Renee Lindmeier and other family members were present at the time of his peaceful death.
Richard Lindmeier was born on April 23, 1921 to Andrew and Mary (Helget) Lindmeier. He married Renee Pitschka on June 20, 1942 at St. Mary¹s Cathedral and was the proud father of three sons. Richard served the St. Cloud community as an outstanding brick mason until his retirement in 1982. He functioned as the foreman of numerous projects including construction of various additions to the St. Cloud Hospital, the piers of the Sauk Rapids Bridge, St. Cloud Post Office, North High School, Technical High School, Boy Scout Building, St. John¹s University library and many others. Richard was especially instrumental in constructing the brick archways at St. Cloud Hospital. He also built the brick homes where his family resided. Richard was an avid music-lover and a beautiful vocalist. He was a member and past president and treasurer of Local Brick Layers Union #4, a long-standing parishioner of St. Paul¹s Catholic Church, and a member of VFW Post 428. Richard served as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Richard¹s primary commitments in life were loyalty to his family and his complete faith as a devout Roman Catholic. He was adored by his wife, three sons, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Everyone loved his sense of humor. Richard¹s son Joel recalls that his Dad "taught him about living life, hunting, fishing, and how to love."
He is survived and remembered affectionately by his wife Renee, St. Cloud; sons Richard Jr. of Sartell; Deacon David of St. Cloud; Joel of Sauk Rapids; daughter-in-laws Mary, Lynne Marie and Michele; grandchildren John and wife Mary Kay, Cherie and husband Tom Franke, Jennifer and husband Lance Levendowski, Sarah and fiance Cale Pennings, Becky, Bill, Eric, Katie, Emily; great-grandchildren Andrew, Nicole, Lauren and Luke; his loving sister Lillian Nelson of St. Cloud and his brother Lorenzo Lindmeier of Springfield, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Raymond Lindmeier, Marie Bielejeski, Erwin Lindmeier, Veronica Wiehoff, Helen Lindmeier; and his mother and father, Mary and Andrew Lindmeier. The funeral for Richard J. Lindmeier Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 26, St. Paul¹s Catholic Church, St. Cloud. Friends may visit between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Carlin Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
