Jan 29, 2000 Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Henry J. Dickhaus, 74, who died Saturday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 tonight and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 tonight at the funeral home in Melrose.
Henry Dickhaus was born in Millwood Township, Stearns County, to Fred and Bertha (Herzog) Dickhaus. He was a lifetime resident of the Melrose area. He married Rosie Klaphake on Aug. 26, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Osakis. He worked as an independent truck hauler for 20 years. He was elected Stearns County commissioner in 1974, and was in that position until 1999. He worked as a part-time postal carrier until July 1999. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose, the Melrose Lions, and various other local and county organizations.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters, Stephen of Vadnais Heights, Randy of Rosemount, Brenda of Shoreview, Melissa Churlonis of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Mary Beth Kemper of Melrose; brothers and sisters, Al, Vernon, Helen Blommel and Marie Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Irene Poepping of St. Rosa, Monica Ahrens of Sauk Centre, Karen Callahan of Anoka, Corrine Shay of Grand Rapids, and Alma Frieler of Upsala; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara.
