Apr 21, 2000 Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Alcuin J. Dickhaus, 60, who died Friday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Melrose Veteran's Honor Guard will have services at 7 p.m. Monday followed by parish prayers at 8 at the funeral home.

Alcuin Dickhaus was born in Millwood Township, Stearns County, to Fred and Bertha (Herzog) Dickhaus. He was in the Minnesota National Guard for several years. He married LouAnn Fabeck on Nov. 24, 1962, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. The couple moved to Melrose two years later. He worked for Dierk's Dairy in Melrose for several years, then as a service technician for Minnegasco for 17 years. He owned and operated AJ's Liquors in Melrose for six years and worked part time for Bohlig Cleaners. He was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose, past commander and past drill sergeant of American Legion Post 101, Melrose, former member of the Lion's Club, civil defense, past president of the Roving Hillbillies Snowmobile Club, manager of Homer's softball team and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Survivors include his wife; children, Sharon Wessel of Melrose, Michael of Blaine, and Robert of Melrose; five grandchildren; and brother and sisters, Vernon, Helen Blommel, and Marie Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Irene Poepping of St. Rosa, Monica Ahrens of Sauk Centre, Karen Callahan of Coon Rapids, Corrine Shay of Grand Rapids, and Alma Frieler of Upsala.
He was preceded in death by infant son, Alcuin; and brother, Henry.
