Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Robert J. Viehauser, 81, of 212 Ash St. E, who died Monday at his home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 tonight and after noon Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph. St. Joseph Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 6:30 and St. Joseph American Legion Post 328 and VFW Post 5773 at 8 tonight at the funeral home in St. Joseph.
Robert Viehauser was born in St. Joseph to Joseph and Ida (Horsch) Viehauser. He played baseball for the St. Joseph Saints in the Sioux League. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Fletcher. He married Rose Schroeder on Aug. 30, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph. He worked as a correctional counselor at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-St. Cloud. He retired in 1976. He was a member of the St. Joseph Rod and Gun Club, St. Joseph Planning Commission, St. Joseph American Legion Post 328 where he was a past commander, St. Joseph VFW Post 5773, Catholic Order of Foresters, Reformatory Retirees Association, St. Joseph Senior Citizens and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Sniezek, Rosanne Eiynck, Jane Fuchs, and Robbie Birr of St. Joseph; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Renee Hiemenz and Ida Mae Johnson and Dan Viehauser; and grandson, Ryan Eiynck.
