Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church for Jim Illies, 71, formerly of Elrosa, who died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar. Interment will be in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Paynesville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Green Lake Funeral Home, Spicer. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before services Monday at the church in Spicer.
Jim Illies was born in Elrosa to John and Hilda (Nathe) Illies. He worked at J.C. Penney's in Glenwood before receiving X-ray training at St. Cloud Hospital. He was employed at Willmar Regional Treatment Center for more than 35 years. He married Colette Lensing on Oct. 13, 1958, in Greenwald. He received E.E.G. training in Minneapolis and worked at various medical centers in Central Minnesota. He was active in Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a former parish board member. He was also a member of the Minnesota Radiologists Association. The couple also attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas, where they spent the last three winters.
Survivors include his wife; children, Michelle Norris and Jeff of Spicer, Gary of Seymour, Wis., Joy Illies Woelfel of New London, and Jan Ellis of Blaine; 12 grandchildren; brother and sisters, the Rev. Wilfred of St. Cloud, Margie Beste of Freeport, and Lois Williams of Bloomington; and two stepbrothers and two stepsisters.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Lillian and Donald; stepmother, Hilda; and several stepbrothers.
