A memorial service was held Friday, May 17, 2002 for Mark J. Borgerding, 58, of Grey Eagle, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grey Eagle with the Rev. Bernard Gruenes officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were with Patton-Schad Funeral Service, Grey Eagle. Mr. Borgerding died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from lymphoma at the Melrose Area Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1943 in Melrose to Cyril and Agnes (Holdvogt) Borgerding. He served in the Army from 1961-1964. He married Judy Baird Feb. 24, 1979 at United Methodist Church, Grey Eagle. The couple farmed in the Grey Eagle area. Due to health reasons, Mark stopped farming and attended Alexandria Technical College completing a degree in mechanical engineering and design. He was employed at the Census Bureau in 2000 and currently was employed as a custodian for Greenview (a rest stop off Interstate 94). He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grey Eagle. He enjoyed hunting, reading newspapers, farming and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Agnes Borgerding.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Borgerding of Grey Eagle; three sisters, RoseAnn (Allen) Zimmer of St. Cloud, Lenore (Jim) Ohnstad of Faribault and Mary Lou (Tom) Lundberg of Roseville; one brother, Butch (Jean) Borgerding of Minneapolis; nine nieces; nine nephews; and one grandnephew.
