Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Bergetta M. "Berdie" Lieser age 82 of Cold Spring and formerly of Paynesville who died Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Reverend Richard Leisen will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. The Daughters of Isabella, Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association and the St. Ann's Mission Group of Lake Henry will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Bergetta was born on January 14, 1923 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Michael and Ida (Jaeger) Gruber. She married Andrew J. Lieser on October 5, 1943 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry. The couple farmed near Lake Henry until they retired to Paynesville in 1981. They have made their home in Cold Spring since 1998. Berdie loved music and playing the piano and accordion. Berdie and Andrew enjoyed traveling and visiting with their out of state family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Berdie was a member of St. Louis Parish, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association and the St. Ann's Mission Group of Lake Henry.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew of Cold Spring; children, Duane (Jan) of Sauk Centre, Diane (Ed) Budde of Melrose, Gene (Sue) of Circle Pines, Dan (Karen) of Gilman, Harvey (Marilyn) of Lake Henry, Mary Lee (Jarett) Hemmesch of Cold Spring, Linda (Steve) Hittle of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Brenda (Dana) Timm of Cold Spring; 20 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Mike Gruber, Jr. of Belgrade and David Gruber of St. Cloud; sisters, Virgie Whitney of Elk River, Delores Sunderman of Sauk Centre, Lenora Kampsen of Litchfield, Erma Rieland of St. Cloud and Pat Wensman of Paynesville.
Berdie was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, John Lieser, infant grandson, Matthew Lieser, daughter-in-law Diane Lieser, infant sister Shirley, sister, Florence DeMorrett, brothers, Marcellus Gruber and Urban Gruber.
