Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Jerome 'Jerry' Meyer, 68, who died Sunday at his home.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 3:30 p.m Tuesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Veterans will pray at 7 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus at 7:30 and parish prayers at 8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jerome Meyer was born in Grove Township, Stearns County, to John and Caroline (Anton) Meyer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He married Marcella B. Ahrens on June 28, 1955,at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple moved to Melrose in 1957. He was employed by Kraemer Lumber and Bus Company as a bus driver and mechanic for 32 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Knights of Columbus Council 1633 and the VFW Post 7050.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters, Mary Breth, Tom, Mark and Donald of Melrose, Janet Kobliska of Staples, Sharon Johnson and Bruce of St. Joseph, and Joan Loxtercamp of Sartell; mother, Caroline Meyer of Meire Grove; sisters and brothers, Lorraine Ludwig of Luxemburg, Herbert of New Munich, Ralph of Paynesville, Phillip of Greenwald, Cyril of Meire Grove, Mary Ann Wenker of Melrose, Joanne Fischer and Bernice Farmer of St. Cloud and Eddie of Cold Spring; and 24 grandchildren. Memorials are preferred.
