Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church for Ervin G. Schmiesing, 79, who died Tuesday at Bethesda Hospital, St. Paul.Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. St. Joseph's Society, Poor Soul's and Holy Rosary Societies will pray at 7 tonight at the funeral home in Melrose followed by parish prayers at 8.
Ervin Schmiesing was born in Getty Township, Stearns County, to Herman and Theresa (Petermeier) Schmiesing. He married Eileen Korf on June 18, 1946, in St. John's Catholic Church. He worked the family farm in Getty Township all of his life. He was on Meire Grove Creamery Board for 18 years. He was also a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Society, Poor Soul's Society and the Holy Rosary Society.
Survivors include his wife; sisters and brother, Alvina Zenzen of St. Cloud, Bernadine of Sauk Centre, Alma Meyer, Lydia Zenzen and Alphonse of Meire Grove.He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Agnes Meyer, Clara Clofes, Ann and Henry.
