Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon for Dennis M. Klehr, age 53, who died Tuesday of cancer. Father Eugene McGlothlin will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, St. Martin, Minnesota. Friends may call from 4-9:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany. St. Benedict's parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Dennis was born June 6, 1949, in Paynesville to Roman and Theresa (Gruber) Klehr. He grew up in St. Martin and entered the US Army in 1967. He started working for the W. Gohman Construction Company in 1968 and he was currently vice-president of the company. He married Nancy Van Hove on September 2, 1989, in St. Cloud. The couple lived in Avon. Dennis was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon. He was also a member of the St. Joseph's American Legion Post #328 and a member of the St. Joseph Volunteer Fire Department for many years until he moved to Avon in 1989. Dennis also loved to hunt and fish.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy, Avon; children, Robin Klehr, Minneapolis, Michael Klehr, Alaska, Matthew (Cassie) Klehr, Alaska, Jonathan, Jessica and Cassandra all at home. He is also survived by his mother, Theresa Klehr, St. Martin; brothers and sisters, Stella (Roman) Kalthoff, DeGraff, Cyrilla (Norman) Euteneuer, St. Martin, Larry (Lisa) Klehr, Cold Spring, Lori (Randy) Ostendorf, Melrose, Janice (Joe) Garding, Albany, and Mona (Romie) Torborg, Richmond, and grandson Brooks Klehr.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roman Klehr; his son, Christopher Klehr; a brother, Ronald Klehr, and sister, Shirley Hettwer.
