Thomas F. Mackedanz, age 47, of Paynesville, died Saturday afternoon at his home. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville with Father Richard Leisen officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
Thomas Ferdinand Mackedanz was born on September 7, 1955, in Richmond, Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Lucille (Driver) Mackedanz. He grew up in Roscoe, where he attended elementary school in District 2068 and high school in Paynesville, graduating in 1973.
Tom was united in marriage to Vanessa Jansen. To this union, one son was born. Tom was later married to Sharon Olmscheid and they raised their two children and Sharon's son Brian together. Tom and Sharon made their home in Paynesville and he worked for Cold Spring Granite for 28 years. Tom was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville, AA for 13 years and the Roscoe Sportsman Club. Among the things he enjoyed were fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon; three sons, Adam (Jodi) Mackedanz, Brian (Apryl) Simmons and Darren Mackedanz; daughter, Christina Mackedanz; two grandchildren, Hali and Kaytlyn; five brothers, Bob Mackedanz of Paynesville, Ron Mackedanz of Eden Valley, Gary Mackedanz of Cold Spring, Tim Mackedanz of Watkins, and Don Mackedanz of Roscoe; four sisters, Deb Schmitz of Cold Spring, Sandy Schwartz of St. Cloud, Tammy Mackedanz of Paynesville and Terry Mackedanz of Roscoe. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, John.
