Private services will be held at a later date for Ellsworth W. Al Hein, 85, of Paynesville who died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Koronis Manor Care Center in Paynesville. Arrangements are with Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
Al was born on May 21, 1921 on the Hein Family Farm in Roseville Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota to Rueben and Emma (Kanne) Hein. He graduated from Paynesville High School in 1938 and served six years in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. Al married Irene Schleper on November 25, 1948 in Paynesville. He operated the family dairy farm with his brother Vernon for 37 years. After retiring, Al did lawn care and snow removal with his son John until the fall of 2006. Al enjoyed farming, auctions, deer hunting and ice fishing. His pride and joy were his family, grand-children and great grand-children.
Al is survived by his wife Irene of Paynesville; daughter, Suzanne (James) Brick of Lake Henry; son, John of Paynesville; daughter-in-law, Pat Hein of Morris; six grandchildren, Maria Simon, Kathryn Hermel, Jamey Brick, Andrew Brick, John T. Hein and Amanda Luthi; four great grandchildren, Annika Hein, Noah and Abram Luthi, Owen Brick; and sister-in-law, Lila Hein of Paynesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Tim in December 1952 and Tom in June 2006; and brother, Vernon Hein.
