Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe, MN for Erwin J. Hemmesch, age 89 of Roscoe who died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Lakeview Ranch in Dassel. Reverend Leo Leisen and Reverend David Maciej will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home at 115 East James Street, Paynesville and after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church in Roscoe. The St. Joseph Men's Society and St. Theresa Mission Group will pray at 4:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Erwin was born on August 31, 1917 in Richmond, Minnesota to Henry and Margaret (Feinhage) Hemmesch. He married Aegidia B. Rothstein on November 27, 1941 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. They farmed in Zion Township, Stearns County north of Roscoe. He was a member of St. Agnes Parish, St. Joseph Men's Society and the St. Theresa Mission Group.
Erwin is survived by his children, LeRoy (Roseann) of St. Martin, Theresa (Art) Arnold of Paynesville, Kathy (Jerry) Schramel of Paynesville, Aggie (Larry) Gerads of Albany, Betty (Earl) Olmscheid of Waite Park, Frank (Pat) of Paynesville, Patricia (Art) Janssen of Richmond, Lenora (Ray) Maciej of Royalton, Ruth (Dave) Minnerath of Cold Spring, Jesse (Shannon) of Paynesville, Deborah (Steve) Notch of Eden Valley and Carla (Troy) Vagle of Paynesville; 35 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 13 step great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Edward, Harold, Alex and Cyril all of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1976; infant daughter, Mary Lou in 1951; granddaughter, Renee Olmscheid; sister, Loretta Klehr and brother, Norbert on April 10, 2007. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
