Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond for Sylvester Mackedanz age 88, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. The Golden Smiles and St. Joseph's Society will pray at 4:30 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Sylvester was born in Roscoe, MN to Ferdinand and Mary Mackedanz. He married Clara Meyer on May 2, 1936, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN. He worked for the Cold Spring Granite Company until his retirement 26 years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Society.
Survivors include his wife, Clara; children, Donna Zentmire of South Bend, IN, Mary Kascht of Madera, CA, Joann Drontle of Cold Spring, and Carol Steil of Cheyenne, WY; sister, Gertrude Thomas of Roscoe; brother, Henry Mackedanz of Paynesville and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Theresa Huschle, Francis Brinker, Ben Mackedanz, Leo Mackedanz, Jack Macked-anz, Frank Mackedanz, and Raymond Mackedanz.
