Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2007 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Lucille "Lu" Petermeier, age 72, who died peacefully surrounded by her family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond (151 Oakwood Ave. S.E.). The Christian Women and Richmond Legion Auxillary will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. followed by songs from the Richmond Choir on Sunday evening.
Lu was born in Richmond, MN to Peter Joseph and Christina (Utsch) Rothstein. She married William J. Duret on January 12, 1957 in St. Stephen's Church, Mpls., MN, he died June 27, 1964. Lu married Everett Hansgen, Jr. in November 1969 in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond, MN and they later divorced. She married Al Petermeier on October 6, 1995 in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond, MN. Throughout her life, Lu worked for Northwestern Bell Phone Company, Wenner's Hardware in Richmond, Fingerhut and the Richmond Library. Her volunteer work included delivering for Meals on Wheels and alter duty for Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Lu enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cards, casinos, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Al; children, Cyndy (Ron) Willenbring of Richmond, Mike Duret of St. Cloud, Julie (Kevin) Buermann of Lakeville, Rob Hansgen of Fredericksburg, VA; step children, Jan (Tom) Phillips of Cold Spring, Doug (Kris) Petermeier of Richmond, Joan (Wayne) Lee of Detroit Lakes, Ruth (Kevin) Rothstein of Rice Lake, WI, Dave (Laurie) Petermeier of Cold Spring, Gail (Mike) Gertken of Richmond and Mark (Katie) Petermeier of Richmond; sister, Mil Bostrom of St. Paul; grandchildren, Chris Willenbring, Cari Forster, Ryan, Brianna and Curtis Buermann, Craig Phillips, Brian and Amber Lee, Amanda and Adam Rothstein, Krystal and Danny Petermeier, Kayla Hustel, Christopher, Nicholas and Jessica Gertken, Bryan and Sean Storebo; great-grandchildren, Kamren and Midayah Major.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, William Duret; brothers and sisters, Sophia Golla, Severin "Jack" Rothstein, Al Rothstein, Sr. Loretta Rothstein, Agatha "Aggie" Sjolander, Paul Rothstein, Irene Bauer, Fud Rothstein, Leona "Lee" Sagstetter.
