Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Richard H. Rothstein, age 83, who died Monday at the Paynesville Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY) and from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m., the Golden Smiles will pray at 4:30 p.m. The Catholic Aid Association and St. Isadore Mission Group will pray a rosary at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Richard was born in Richmond to Nicholas and Theresa (Braegelmann) Rothstein. He married Agnes Blonigen on September 13, 1949 in St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin, MN. Richard farmed most of his life north of Richmond. In addition to being a life long farmer, Richard also worked other jobs ranging from cutting and delivering ice and coal, being a volunteer fireman, driving school bus, hauling milk cans, working at a Granite Company and working at the Richmond Mill & Elevator. He loved hunting, fishing and trapping and passed this love to his children. In recent years he helped his wife Agnes with her gardening and crafts, especially, crocheting carpets. Richard had a special love for young children. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Aid Association and St. Isadore Mission Group.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; children, Delroy (Donna), Michael (Mary), Isidore "Chip" (Teri), Mary Jo (Leo) Hemmesch, Joseph (Lonnie), Richard (Carol), Laura (Elmer) Lembeck, Anthony (Joan) and Stephen (Amy); son-in-law, Charles (Jane) Torborg; 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gregor (Viola), Leander (Jenny), Agnes Rausch, Marcellus, Alfred (Elizabeth), Clarence (Pauline), Ralph (Evelyn) and Nicholas (Margie).
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Anna Mae Torborg (1986); brothers, Leo, Edmund, infant brothers, Norbert and Paul; sisters, Aegidia Hemmesch, Leona Hememsch and Lucille.
