Services will be on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Lorraine C. (Lahr) Spoden age 78 of St. Cloud who died Monday, May 20 with her family by her side at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with heart disease. Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Entombment will be in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Lorraine was born on July 13, 1923 in St. Nicholas, Minnesota to Peter and Elizabeth (Kinzer) Lahr. She married Marvin A. Spoden on May 12, 1947 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas, Minnesota. She lived in St. Cloud all of her married life and was a member of St. Anthony's Parish. Lorraine loved spending time in her flower gardens and baking for her family and grandchildren. Everyone loved her butterhorns and apple rolls.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin of St. Cloud; one daughter, Yvette Stueve and her husband Robert of St. Joseph; five sons, Gary and his wife Carol of Duelm, Ralph and his wife Barb of St. Cloud, Stephen and his wife Sally of St. Cloud, Mark and his wife Mary of Grand Rapids, and Charles of St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Frank of Paynesville; two sisters, Angeline Shay of Sartell, and Aurelia Becker of Cold Spring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Marvin, Jr.; eight brothers, George, Herbert, Alquin, Peter, Leander, twin brother, Raphael, Reynold, and Ovide; three sisters, Elizabeth Braun, Marie Wieber, and Isabella Bares.
