Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2002, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond for Gertrude S. Welle age 86, who died Monday at her home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Sts. Peter and Paul Christian Women, St. Catherine's Catholic Aid, and the Golden Smiles will pray at 4:30 p.m. The St. Jude Mission Circle will pray at 6 p.m. The Richmond KCs will pray at 7 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Gertrude was born in St. Martin, MN, to Peter and Anna (Stroeing) Doll. She married Edwin H. Welle on June 10, 1941, in the St. Martin Catholic Church. She was a cook for the Richmond Public School and assisted her husband with custodial duties for the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish. She loved quilting, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Christian Women, St. Jude Mission Circle and Catholic Aid.
Survivors include her husband; daughters and sons, Doris (Tom) Heying of Fort Ripley, Elaine (Jerry) Schaefer of Dassel, Stanley (Elaine) of Watkins; Mary (Elmer) Geise of Sobieski, Diane (James) Volk of Rice, Linda (Richard) Hauschild of Waite Park, Alice Fink of Little Falls, and Marvin (Jan) of Grand Junction, CO; brothers Arthur and Peter Doll; sisters, Bernadine Meyer and Anna Schulte; 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Herbert, Eugene and Alcuin; and sisters Hildegard Doll and Viola Buermann.
