Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich for Harold "Harry" Toenies who died Wednesday at the Melrose Area Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the St. Josephs Mens Society and the New Munich Lions at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Harold Toenies was born Sept. 25, 1936 in Freeport, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Willenbring) Toenies. Harry attended Melrose High School in Melrose. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Jen Hiltner on August 29, 1959 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Melrose. He farmed for over 40 years between Melrose and New Munich.
Survivors include his wife, Jen Toenies of New Munich; children, Ann Toenies of Albany, and Paul Toenies of Melrose; 4 grandchildren, Patrick, Alison, Lauren, and Kean; brothers, Cel (Rita) Toenies of St. Cloud, Al (Marty) Toenies of Royalton, Gene (Nettie) Toenies of Cold Spring, Ed (Audrey) Toenies of Grey Eagle, and Richard (Phylis) Toenies of Kelliher; and brother-in-law, Arnie Kemper.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marie Rau and LuAnn Kemper. Memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center in St. Cloud.
