Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Alphonse J. Donabauer, age 79, of 31795-Collegeville Road, St. Joseph, who died on Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Greg Miller OSB will officiate. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church in St. Joseph. Funeral arrangements are being made with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Alphonse was born December 13th, 1922, in St. Joseph to Leopold and Margaret (Reisinger) Donabauer Sr. He served in the US Army Air Corps during W.W.II. He married Cecelia Michalski on May 17, 1947, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. He lived in the St. Joseph area for the past 46 years. He owned and operated Donabauer Well Drilling in St. Joseph from 1962-1986. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph American Legion, National Water Well Association, and Minnesota State Water Well Associ-ation.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia; children, Linda Diez (Mark), Rochester, Arlene Pipkin (Jim), Dayton, Wayne Donabauer, St. Joseph, and Galen Donabauer (Karen), Avon; 13 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Hildegard Schneider, Foley, Gilberta Klein, Providence, RI, Daniel Donabauer, Kimball, Rosella Michalski, Garrison, Othilia Loecken, Harker Heights, Texas, and Joan Wruck, St. Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Herman, Bernard, Leopold Jr., Valentine, Florian, and Gilbert Donabauer. Pallbearers will be Chris, Nick, Adam, and Alex Donabauer, Russell Paul, and David Diez. Memorials are preferred.
