Melvin H. Ramacher, age 88, of St. Cloud, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at St. Benedict's Care Center, St. Cloud. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Help of Christian Cemetery, St. Augusta.
Melvin Ramacher was born June 23,1915, in Albany to Henry W. and Anna (Klier) Ramacher. He married Velma Louise Whitson on July 24,1945, in Midland, Texas. Melvin was an electrician for Boeing Aircraft during World War II and an independent salesman for 50 years. Melvin and Velma lived in Rice from 1945 to 1962. They moved to St. Cloud in 1962 until the present.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Rodney (Sharon) Ramacher of Barnesville; Susan (Mark) Durant of St. Cloud; Renee McCown of King City, Ore.; Kenneth Ramacher of Portland, Ore.; step daughter, Yvonne McKown of Portland, Ore.; step son, Harold Henkel of Uvalde, Texas; sisters, Martha Schlicht of Freeport; Lois (Al) Ciliske of St. Paul; Lorraine (Walter) Zierden of Avon; six grandchildren, Lynelle, Lisa, Eric and David Ramacher, Steven and Michael McCown; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma, on October 19, 2000; and an infant sister, Mildred.
