Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Convent for Sister Mary Leonarda Schmitt, 92, who died Saturday at St. Francis Convent. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8:30 tonight and from 8:30 a.m. until services Wednesday at the convent in Little Falls. There will be a wake service at 7 tonight at the convent in Little Falls. Arrangements were made by Brenny Funeral Home, Little Falls.
Sister Mary Leonarda Schmitt was born in the Jacob's Prairie and Cold Spring area to Joseph and Catherine (Fuchs) Schmitt. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls on Aug. 12, 1935. She made her first profession of vows in 1937 and her final vows on Aug. 12, 1940. She was a gardener and a homemaker. She was assigned to Little Falls, St. Cloud, Flensburg, Breckenridge, Alexandria, Lastrup and Dodgeville, Wis.
Survivors include her brothers, John of Avon, and Roman of Cold Spring. She also leaves behind her Sisters in religious life. She was preceded in death by her sister and brothers, Alma, Alphonse and Nicholas.
