Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich for Josephine Mayers who died Tuesday morning at Pine Villa. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Thursday & after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The Christian Mothers & Catholic Order of Foresters will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Josephine was born in Melrose to Bernard & Rose (Inderrieden) Wessel. She married Ferdinand Mayers on June 25, 1929 in Melrose. She farmed with her husband & was a homemaker all of her life.
Josephine is survived by her children, Aloysius, Eagan; Rose Marie Ryan, St. Paul; Jean Terres, St. Martin; Virginia Zink, St. Paul; Bernice Zink, Melrose; Gerald, Freeport; Linda Christen, Sauk Centre; Jack & Quentin, Richmond; 51 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Clara Conrad, Eileen Dold, lone Walz & Alvina Woeste.
She is preceded in death by her husband on January 20, 1997; 2 granddaughters, 2 great-grandchildren; & siblings, Joe, John, Aloysius, Frances, Rose, Mary, Fran, Anne, Catherine & Irene.
