Notes
Occupation
There is a distinction between the titles shoemaker or cobbler and cordwainer. A cordwainer works only with fine leather. The term cordwainer originated in Europe around 1066. The term comes from the fact that originally cordwainers worked only with cordouan or cordovan leather, the finest leather available at the time.Residence
The Wilmerton House is possibly the oldest surviving residence in Frankford. It was nominated as a Historic Building, Structure, Site, or Object in the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.Endnotes
